The Media Haven - A Basement Home Theater

The Media Haven Home Theater
Basement Home Theater
I always wanted to build a home theater; it was a dream that had long been pending in my mind, so I started researching online for ideas.
We had some empty space in the basement, which I planned to utilize for the purpose; this is a mid-size room measuring 12ft by 19ft. It is a bit narrow for the ideal home theater - accommodating the desired amount of theater seating would be a challenge but I was determined to make the most out of the available space.
The room has no windows, so legally, one is pretty much limited with the possible uses for such space; you cannot make it into a bedroom, but as a home theater, the fact that it was without windows facilitated the whole home theater room design.
The Media Haven home theater has two rows of theater seating with a 8-inch riser for the back row. The room is finished in premium quality wall paper. Main decor features used in this home theater include five pillars with sconce lights that I made from raw lumber; there is also a crown molding with indirect rope lighting, tin-style ceiling, the typical popcorn machine, and a small fridge for refreshments.
For the time being, I am using a 60-inch LG Plasma TV as a big screen. I plan to replace this sometime in the future with a front projection setup using a bigger screen. The audio setup is based on an Energy 7.1 surround sound system, using full tower speakers for the fronts.
Initially, I did not plan anything like this but one idea led to another and this is what we eventually got. The picture really does not do justices to the end result but I can assure you that it turned out to be a great basement home theater project. I need a wide-angle lens to show more of it but...
This media haven sounds really saaweeeeet! My wife and kids love it!
