Sony vs. Samsung Customer Support

by Brady
(Harlingen,TX, USA)

I would suggest people surf the Internet and go into Samsung or Sony forums and read all of the complaints filed by consumers regarding their problems with their TV's.

I am encountering problems with our Samsung turning on and we were considering purchasing (prior to this problem) another Samsung because of consumer digest ratings, but not now.

We would be willing to pay extra to purchase Sony if Sony is willing to back their products better than Samsung has done.

samsung DLP TV service
by: Anonymous

Bought a 56" DLP TV -- it failed 7 days after delivery. Now 2 years later it failed again ( no video ). The recommended service company took over a month to correct the problem ( not what I would call good service ). Also, the part installed was rebuilt and did not function correctly. Now it is going into another round of repairs.

This was my first Samsung TV after 15 years of owning Sony TV's. I am going back to Sony.

Just a small side note -- I work in the electronics industry and Sony is very hard to please as a component customer. Their standards are much higher than others.

Samsung LN46B610
by: Jim3722

I purchased a Samsung LN46B610 in June of 2009. In March of 2010 the LCD panel failed. Samsung replaced the panel within a week. The LCD panel they replaced it with was not made by Samsung. The tech told me that the power supply would fail before two (2yrs) years was up. He also stated this was a common problem with Samsung LCD TVs. After the repair, the picture was not very clear and it was also dim. When the set was repaired he did`t give me any paper work on what was done nor did I sign anything.

I believe this is because they do not want to show a repair history. They say they only have a 3% repair history, who knows. I have purchased two Samsung HDTVs and they have both failed within seven months after purchase and yes one did have a power supply failure, it would not turn on. It was also repaired,it`s OK. I suspect next the panel will fail in it also.

Samsung I think has the best picture of all LCDs, it is a shame they purchase cheap parts for their TVs. The problems that I have had are all over the Internet.

Maybe Samsung should surface the net to see their complaints and maybe they will wake up.Customers have spent thousands of dollars thinking they would have a set to last for years not months.
