Service Life of Led Lcd TV as compared to CCFL Lcd.

by Devvrat . Kakodkar
(Mumbai- India)

Thanks for your information on Led LCD. But what about the life comparing of Led/Lcd as against CCFL LCD. Also Samsung advertises that there Led LCD TV is mercury vapor free. Does that mean CCFL Lcd gives out mercury vapor. Thanks

Mercury vapor and LCD TVs
by: Andrew Ghigo

CCFL-based backlights in LCDs do not give mercury vapor but all cold cathode fluorescent lamps used in LCD backlights work very much the same as regular fluorescent lamps. These lamps usually contains a low-pressure mercury vapor that, when ionized, emits ultraviolet light - which is then converted into visible white light by the phosphor lining used on the inside of these lamps.
