Sound Quality of Samsung

by Mahmood
(Lahore, Pakistan)

Today, I did survey of both Sony and Samsung LCD TV 46"; everything is nice with Samsung, it is cost effective, fully featured, nice and beautiful design, but....

Its sound quality is poor. Sony has one point ahead in sound feature. Sony Bravia can be used without home theater, but Samsung needs it badly.

Sony vs. Samsung Sound

by Mr. Bill
(Medford, OR)

Sony and Samsung may be about equal with the best picture, but what about the sound systems?

Most folks may employ external audio and not be concerned; but some of us rely on the set's speakers especially in a smaller room such as a bedroom. We have a Samsung Series 3 360 22" set which has a beautiful picture. But, the sound is horrible ... very tinny sounding ... even with audio adjustments.

We are wondering how the larger sets compare in sound quality.

TV Sound Quality

Some reviews have suggested the Samsung sound system is poor. What is your assessment?

Is the Sony sound system any better - or do we have to factor in buying a separate sound system?

Readers' Replies:

I have a Samsung UN40B6000 and my brother bought a Sony KDL-40NX705 (I don't really know if it is this model, but has the same things of my Samsung + Internet@TV). And I do not see differences between video quality, but in sound quality, Sony is much better. It says that both 10W, but I see a BIG difference, and Sony is better ON THIS side.

The majority of today's ultra-slim flat-panel TVs do not deliver good sound. However, whether you need to invest in a separate sound system depends what you are after. If you want really good quality sound to match the quality of your HDTV picture, then yes, you need a separate sound system - and this applies irrespective of TV brand and model.

I have just purchased a UE40 6000 2D tv and the sound is acceptable using the internal speakers. My friend had just installed the 3D equivalent and the sound is tinny. We did not hear this problem with the one in the shop and people are reporting an intermittent fault, so I think that there is a problem somewhere.
