MR. LCD - Sony XBR8 is Better but Expensive

by Chip Pidgeon
((Long island, NY, USA))

I am the owner of 2 Samsung LCD TVs. I own the Led 46 inch 950 and I also own the 46 inch 750.

If I did not have to fork over any hard earned $$ for my LCD TV, then yes; I would go with the Sony XBR8. As a Samsung man it kills me to admit that Sony really stepped up to the plate with the XBR8. I will say that the XBR8 is possibly a nose hair ahead of the Samsung 950. However when it comes $$ all bets are off, especially with the way the economy is...

You could almost buy 2 Samsung 950 for the price of one XBR8. And the difference in performance between these two TVs amounts to probably less then $200 dollars in my opinion. When you really cut the fat away all of my audiophile friends are stuck for answer to find a difference between my Samsung 950 and my Samsung 750. And I got 750 for 50% less then the 950 LED with back lighting. All in all, LED back lighting is still in it's infancy stages and is way over priced at this stage. Maybe by the end of 2009 or 2010 will LED finally give you dollar for dollar value. "A great picture is a great picture" and I have 20/10 vision. Most people can not tell the difference except for what they hear from TV or magazines. Use your eyes and not your ears when buying a TV.
