Is a bigger LCD TV better than a smaller LED TV?

by Patrick
(Illinois)

Which TV is better the 46" Samsung LED 240 hz or the 52" LCD 240 Hz. I am also considering the 52" Sony LCD 240 Hz TV as well. I love the LED, however, I am told to buy the bigger TV.

The price difference for all three is very similar--within $100.00.

LCD or LED TV?

There are two issues here: screen size and display technology.

Screen size is something you have to look at with respect to your room. If your room size and viewing distance can take a 52-inch, then I would say go for the larger TV as at some point, you would definitely regret not having done so should you decide to opt for the smaller TV.

LED vs.LCD TV is a different issue. LEDs gives a deeper black - though with a slightly restricted angle of view compared to traditional LCD TVs. The deeper blacks lead to more saturated colors and better overall picture detail especially when handling small bright objects over a predominantly dark background.

LEDs are also greener if that is important to you.

But otherwise, both LEDs and LCDs are capable of exceptional picture quality.
