TV Picture Quality and Off-axis Viewing

As I have stated in the article, the LED TVs under review did exhibit increased deterioration in the image quality than conventional CCFL LCDs when it came to viewing the picture at the extreme ends away from the center-most optimum seating position.

Mind you, the picture would still look generally OK even from relatively extreme angles and the deterioration mentioned in the article is more one that would become more noticeable in a side-by-side comparison with a premium CCFL-based LCD TV.

In general, the issues noted during the review with extreme off-angle viewing were [1] color saturation would fall considerable leading to a sort of wash-out effect and [2] the screen variations mentioned in the review seemed to intensify more.
