Welcome to this issue of Practical HT Guide Update

We started with Practical Home Theater Guide way back in late Nov 2003. Originally, it was more of a 'hobby' site.  Eventually, it began to develop into a comprehensive online home theater guide. And now, after more than 18 months online and over 150 pages of published articles and guides, we still feel that there is a very long way to go!

So what's new since last issue?

We have recently updated our Projection TV Reviews section with a series of Toshiba and Sony HDTV products.

Toshiba RPTV Reviews:

Products covered in the Toshiba range of HDTV sets include both traditional CRT as well as their latest slim-styled DLP rear projection HD Televisions. These are among the most affordable HDTV sets presently available on the market.

All sets come with a HDMI interface; in addition, the HM94 series of DLP Toshiba HDTV sets also include a built-in HDTV tuner and a cable card slot - thus rendering the use of an additional set-top box to get a HDTV feed unnecessary.

The following links will take you straight to the respective product review pages:

Sony Product Reviews:

We look at Sony's 2004 line of  LCD and CRT projection TVs. These all come with a built-in HDTV tuner and a host of interesting features and specifications.

Sony's LCD RPTV sets make use of three separate LCD panels - one for each color component  - meaning that there are no color wheels in their light engine to trigger that dreadful rainbow effect.

As for the traditional CRT rear projection models, the Sony projection TV sets are among the most affordable, yet they are capable of exceptional picture quality.

We hope that  'YOU'  will enjoy and profit from these new additions to our site!
