2009 Plasma 720 HDTV vs 2009 50+ LED LCD TVs

With the price difference being more than 1000 I think you should tell the public if the picture and features of both compared....make it easy to go to the Plasma for the saving....or if there is a great difference in 720 plasma vs 1080 led lcd.

glass screen
by: Anonymous

A factor I rarely seen considered in comparisons is screen material.

In my house a 2 and 5 year old constantly test the durability of my screens.

My 6 year old glass screen Plasma display has no scratches or stains. Everything has washed off it from Crayon marks to yogurt being smeared on by dirty little hands.

My 2 year old LCD has not faired as well. Crayon marks on its surface will not wash off and there are many fine scratches on the screen from being touched.

Id never buy any TV that did not have a glass screen protecting it from scratches and stains.

Plasmas or LED TVs?
by: Andrew Ghigo

Surely, plasma vs. LED TV is a debate on its own. Yet, both display technologies have their pros and cons and therefore whether one is better than the others depends mainly on your application and exact requirements.

Definitely, plasmas represent a better overall value - and we add better picture performance for the price. But then present plasmas will not give you an inch thick HDTV; if this is important, your only option forward is LED TV. And when it comes to power consumption, even the latest Panasonic NEO-PDP will not match Samsung 2009 LED TVs.

As to 720p and 1080p, it is very hard to perceive any difference in image detail of 1080p content between 720p and 1080p sets for screen sizes less than 50-inch - and even at 55-inch, the difference is just minimal and is more a matter of scaling artifacts rather than as a result of a noticeable loss in the picture detail.
